Timbre Tonewood manufactures musical instrument components from wood. Our primary focus is solid guitar soundboards. In addition to guitar soundboards, we produce large quantities of brace material, and small quantities of soundboards for arch top guitars, violins, mandolins and dulcimers.
We specialize in three tonewood species growing in Western Canada; Sitka Spruce, Engelmann Spruce and Western Red Cedar. In the search for consistent supply of high quality tonewood logs our log buyers cover virtually the entire tonewood producing region of Western Canada. Every tonewood log is selected on a hand picked basis.
The company ships tonewood products to over 20 countries worldwide. Shipments range in size from one soundboard to 40 foot container shipments with over 35,000 tops.
In 2004 the company will manufacture over 400,000 guitar soundboards. In addition Timbre Tonewood will produce split tonewood billets for the manufacture of an additional 400,000 Western Red Cedar guitar tops.

About us Timbre Tonewood is a company incorporated in 1996 and founded by David Lapeyrouse. The company originally was a division of Windfall Cedar Products Ltd. which specialized in manufacturing and harvesting special forest products including soundboard quality split cedar billets. In 1996 Timbre Tonewood Ltd. was established as a stand alone entity focusing exclusively on the production of tonewood products for the world market. At this time the company began sourcing tonewood quality logs and producing soundboards with custom built sawing centers at its factory location in Ucluelet, British Columbia, Canada on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
In May 1999 the company moved its manufacturing operation to
Parksville, British Columbia on the east side of Vancouver Island. The new location provides a modern factory building of 2800 square meters of floor space. The new facility is an ideal location centrally located within the coastal tonewood producing region and within easy access to the port of Vancouver.
The company currently employs 16 people including two log buyers who are in continual contact with major and minor producers of tonewood logs. The company projects a production of about 400,000 soundboards in 2004.
